A 24 year old man was acquitted of a knife point robbery, and taking a conveyance without consent.

R v MW

Our client (MW) was alleged to have robbed a man of his Mercedes car, mobile phone and other personal belongings, whilst in possession of a large knife.

MW was positively identified as the robber by the complainant, who said he did not know the man that robbed him. The defence relied on evidence that the complainant in fact knew MW and could therefore describe him to police and pick him out in an identity parade.

MW owed the complainant money and believed this might be the reason for the false allegation being made against him.

The jury unanimously acquitted MW of all counts.
