Emanuel Amadi

Housing & Civil Litigation

Emmanuel joined Wainwright & Cummins in November 1999 and qualified as a solicitor in March 1998 having passed the qualified lawyers test in October 1997.

Emmanuel originally studied and obtained a BA (Hons.) degree in English Literature in 1987 in Nigeria. He went on to study law at the University of Nigeria. On graduation, he proceeded to the Nigeria Law School, for one a year professional training course. He completed his course in June 1992 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in December 1992.

He then practised law in Nigeria and taught briefly at the Faculty of Law, University of Nigeria, before coming over to the UK in August 1996.

Emmanuel also holds an LLM degree in Corporate/Commercial law from Queen Mary College, University of London and the association of Taxation Technicians certificate (ATT). He is a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians (England & Wales) and has also passed the requisite examination for admission as a member of the Chartered Institute of Abitration.

Prior to joining Wainwright & Cummins, Emmanuel worked with Oxford and Manchester City Councils as a housing solicitor. Emmanuel has a wide caseload involving Housing and Civil Litigation claims. He acts on behalf of a number of local authority tenants. He has successfully represented many local authority tenants in possession proceedings, judicial review at the High Court and County Court appeals in housing cases.

He has brought a large number of successful civil claims especially disrepair claims against local authorities. He has also successfully represented clients in high value insurance claims.

Emmanuel has also developed his criminal practice especially in the area of money laundering where he acts for many clients in confiscation and forfeiture proceedings.
